The Shack

A group has met twice  to discuss this book.  It truly is a book that people have strong feelings about.  We are working our way through, and at our next gathering (on August 4), we will start out with chapters 10 and 11.  Originally we’d scheduled a total of three meetings.  There is clearly enough to discuss for many more – thus, our meeting on August 4 will not be the last.  Come and join the conversation.

 Youth

We do have kids going to Confirmation Camp – three, to be precise.  We head up to Michi-lu-ca that last week of June/ beginning of July.

With involvement in the scrapbooking retreats, more folks have gained an appreciation for Michi-lu-ca.  Its beauty and space give us a chance to encounter God in ways that don’t happen in ‘normal life’.  These encounters change us.  Such powerful things can happen there.  Thank you for helping the kids receive this experience.

Thank you also for helping our three girls go to New Orleans for the National Gathering.  They’ll be there July 21-27.  Pray for them – and for Kris Hepner, who will accompany them.  Pray that they will share and experience Jesus in the people they meet.

Junior Youth

Jr Youth is for kids in 1st - 5th grade. We get together and have loads of fun!

FIRST COMMUNION

We are developing a series of classes for kids fifth grade and younger who are not yet communing.

Several years ago, our Council determined that kids didn’t have to wait until fifth grade to commune, but could begin (after taking the class) when their parents chose.  If you would like for your child to participate, please let Pastor know so that the classes can be scheduled at the best possible time.

RE- TEAM

One of the things happening through this anniversary year is an evaluation of our ministry, and discernment for the next five years.  The Council started this work at their retreat.  The congregation joined in through the Chalice Meetings.

Now a team is being assembled to continue this work of ‘renegotiation’.  That is a long word that means strategic planning.  I prefer to describe it as looking thoughtfully and prayerfully at our ministry, helping the congregation do the same, and then putting together some goals for the congregation to discuss, reshape, and ultimately make a commitment to work toward. The team will meet on July 7 at 7:15 p.m.  If you are interested, speak with Pastor – all are welcome.
